I tried everything to remind my humans it was my birthday—bringing my favorite toy, sitting by the door, and giving my best puppy eyes. But nothing worked.
By afternoon, I felt forgotten and wandered into the backyard, lying beneath the oak tree. “Maybe I’m not important today,” I thought.
Then a red balloon floated down, landing at my feet with a card:
“Follow the balloons for a birthday surprise!”
Tail wagging, I followed the balloons through the yard and into the woods. Along the way, I found treats, toys, and a soft blanket.
The trail led me to a clearing decorated with streamers, lanterns, and a banner: “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” My humans and doggy friends were there, ready to celebrate with treats, toys, and a giant bone-shaped cake.
“We wanted to make your birthday unforgettable,” my favorite human said, giving me a hug.
We played and feasted under the lanterns, and as the night ended, I realized how loved I truly was. This surprise-filled birthday was one I’d cherish forever.
