No dog deserves to live outside, let alone on a chain.
Sadly, this was all Blue knew for most of her life. She didn’t have a nice bed. She didn’t know what life inside a home looked like. And, she definitely had no idea about being curled up next to a hooman on a comfy couch. Blue’s chains were the only “furniture” she knew.
Fortunately, just when she was about to welcome a litter, someone kind showed up around the corner – and changed her life!
Last-Minute Help
Blue’s life was definitely not easy. However, this resilient girl endured it all. She lived with a homeless owner for years, struggling day after day until someone finally learned her story.
Summer, the volunteer at Real Time Rescue, California, found out about Blue when she was just days away from giving birth. The minute she saw her, she knew it: Blue needed a new place to live.
“Blue is an approximately 5 year old pit bull, extremely pregnant and living outside on a chain,” the California shelter stated on their social media.
Knowing Blue wouldn’t have decent treatment in her current location, Summer and the rest of her team talked to her owners. Eventually, they agreed to let her go, and within hours, Blue was already lying on a cozy blanket, awaiting her babies.
The team of vets set up a nice doggo pen, where Blue could sleep and relax. Then, within just days, she went into labor.
Surrounded by the team of caregivers, Blue safely delivered thirteen healthy puppies, leaving everyone surprised! No one expected such a big litter, which is why her rescuers needed a color-coded collar system to tell each puppy apart.
Blue, on the other hand, didn’t have that “sweet dilemma.” She knew each and every puppy perfectly and was already such a sweet mama. She nursed them, protected them, and kept them warm and cozy all the time.
The Sweetest Update
Thanks to Cynthia, who took Blue and her babies on a foster basis, this loving mom had a place to be. She learned all about life in a home, picked up basic manners, and transformed into an amazing companion.
In the meantime, she weaned her puppies and was on her way to becoming one herself. Despite being five years old, Blue was craving a family of her own – and soon enough, that’s exactly what she received!
The rescue’s founder lived near the family who learned Blue’s story, and they immediately fell in love with her.
They waited for Blue to wean her babies so they could come and meet her. What they didn’t know was that Blue would fall head over heels for them within seconds, too!
“Blue was such an amazing mama to #thelucky13, and now it is her turn to be spoiled forever by her people, who have been waiting patiently for her! No more living chained outdoors, and no more babies for this sweet mama,” the rescue stated.
Upon realizing that she’s finally on the way to her forever home, Blue couldn’t be happier! The entire family arrived to give Blue the welcome she truly deserved – and she immediately stole the spotlight like the true princes she is.
Today, Blue lives the life she always dreamed of – and more. She’s finally in the right place, surrounded by people who love her unconditionally. And, she will never have to worry about being chained again!
