While hiking in Idaho’s Owyhee Mountains, two hikers found a plastic tote near the trail containing seven abandoned, underweight puppies. Shocked, they took the puppies out of the woods and sought help, but most local shelters were full.
Eventually, Lake Lowell Animal Rescue, though also crowded, agreed to take them in. The puppies received vet care and began to recover, showing playful behavior despite being a bit nervous.
Since the rescue lacked space, staff found foster homes, and the puppies were soon safe, cared for, and on their way to a better life.
