A skinny pittie named Parker was found shivering on a cold park bench, coughing and curled up for warmth. A kind passerby brought him to Chicago Animal Care and Control, where he was put on stray hold. He had patchy skin and kennel cough, clear signs he’d been on his own for a while.
Parker’s photo touched hearts online, and once his hold ended, the rescue group One Tail at a Time stepped in. They promised Parker would finally know what it means to be safe, warm, and loved.
In his foster home, Parker began to thrive. He was house-trained, good on a leash, and calm in a kennel—evidence he once had a family. Though still recovering from kennel cough, he’s playful, affectionate, and adjusting well, even wearing pajamas to soothe his itchy skin. His foster calls him “a total goober” who loves naps and cuddles.
