When I first saw him, he was curled in the corner of the shelter — big, strong, but completely shut down.
No bark. No growl. No tail wag.
Just silence… like he had given up on being chosen. ![]()
They said, “He’s a Pitbull. People are scared. He’s been here too long.”
But when I sat down beside him, he didn’t move.
He just slowly leaned in… like he was asking,
“Will you be the one who doesn’t walk away?”
I didn’t rescue him.
He actually rescued me. ![]()
Now he follows me everywhere. Sits beside me like he’s guarding my heart. Sleeps with one eye open like he still can’t believe he’s finally home.
I named him Valor.
Because it takes courage to survive what he did — and still choose love. ![]()
