Alone beside a wooded creek in rural Tennessee, a brave mama dog gave birth to 12 puppies with no shelter, food, or human help. Left to survive on her own, she did everything she could to protect and care for her babies despite the harsh conditions.
When local dog rescuer Sarah Kodad learned about the family, she felt both heartbroken and angry that another dog had been abandoned. Determined to help, Kodad tracked the mother through the area. When she finally found them, one puppy had sadly passed away. She carefully rescued the mama and her remaining 11 puppies, bringing them to safety.
Kodad reached out to Rubies and Rogues, a nonprofit animal advocacy organization, which helped connect the family with a loving local foster home. Now, the mama dog and her puppies are warm, safe, and resting peacefully as they prepare for their future. For the first time, the mother can relax, knowing her babies are protected and her struggle is finally over.
