I didn’t confront Andrew immediately. Instead, I asked Jill to join me in our bedroom, claiming we needed to talk. Once the door closed, I turned to her, my voice trembling.
“Is there something you need to tell me about Amy and Andrew?”
Her face turned pale. “What are you talking about?”
“Don’t play games. Amy just told Andrew she knows he’s her real father. He said you’d tell her the truth ‘soon.’ Explain. Now.”
Her legs buckled, and she sank onto the bed, tears streaming. “It was one mistake… one time,” she sobbed.
“One time?” I shouted. “You had an affair with my brother and expect me to believe that? And now Amy knows?”
Jill shook her head. “I didn’t know for sure she was Andrew’s. I thought she was yours. I didn’t want to destroy everything we had.”
“Everything is already destroyed,” I said bitterly.
I left her and confronted Andrew, dragging him outside. “How could you do this? To me? To Amy? You’re my brother!”
Andrew stammered, “I thought staying quiet was best. I didn’t want to ruin your family.”
“Well, congratulations,” I snapped. “You’ve ruined it anyway.”
That night, I packed a bag and left, needing space to think. Over the following weeks, I sought therapy and legal advice. A DNA test confirmed the worst: Andrew was Amy’s biological father.
