Additionally, the government assured that it would assist in the necessary procedures for the repatriation and recovery of the victims’ remains, facilitating their return to Ensenada. Mayor Muñiz has also directed municipal departments to coordinate efforts with state and federal authorities to ensure that affected families receive timely and efficient assistance.
Aside from governmental statements and reports, a family friend of the mother and daughter who lost their lives as a result of the crash spoke out.

According to César Esparza, whose daughter was classmates with the 11-year-old, Murillo suffered from a spinal condition that required ongoing treatment, leading her to receive medical care at Shriners Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia since late August.
The hospital, while declining to disclose specific details, acknowledged the difficulty of finding adequate treatment for her condition in Mexico. Despite her health struggles, Esparza described the late little girl as “a warrior.”
While they didn’t disclose specific details about Murillo due to patient privacy concerns, Shriners Children’s Philadelphia took to Instagram with an emotional statement addressing her passing. The message confirmed that she and her mother had been returning home to Mexico aboard the Jet Rescue Air Ambulance at the time of the crash.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of the medical crew and pilots who were also lost in this tragic event—as well as all of the people who were affected on the ground—and we’re thankful to the first responders for their quick action,” reads the end of the hospital’s statement.

As the investigation into the plane crash continues, the City of Philadelphia has been providing real-time updates through its official website, ensuring residents, businesses, and media outlets remain informed.
Aside from the fatalities, the latest reports reveal that the number of injured victims has risen to 22, with five still hospitalized—three of them in critical condition.

Officials have also addressed significant disruptions caused by the crash, particularly in Northeast Philadelphia. The Department of Streets is working to coordinate travel adjustments, as Cottman Avenue remains closed between Bustleton Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard.
This closure has heavily impacted pedestrians, students, and SEPTA commuters, requiring them to use alternate routes such as the signalized pedestrian crossing at Friendship Street. Despite these restrictions, the lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard have been reopened to vehicular traffic.

The NTSB is actively working at the crash site to determine the cause of the accident. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the private Learjet 55 had only been airborne for approximately one minute before it went down.
The plane, which was initially en route to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri before continuing to its final destination in Mexico, was carrying the mother and daughter as well as four crew members.

In response to the widespread impact of the incident, the city has organized a town hall meeting for Wednesday, where local officials will address community concerns and offer additional resources.
Business owners affected by road closures and operational challenges have also been encouraged to contact the Department of Commerce for assistance.

At a recent media briefing, Mayor Parker reaffirmed the city’s commitment to supporting those affected. “This is a tragedy in our city—people have lost their lives, and many have been injured in this horrific crash,” she stated, extending her sympathies to the victims and their families.
Governor Josh Shapiro echoed her sentiments, emphasizing Pennsylvania’s full support and applauding the swift actions of first responders and emergency crews.

For those displaced by the tragedy, an emergency shelter has been established, and the American Red Cross—Southeastern Pennsylvania is currently providing assistance.
Additionally, mental health resources are available through the city’s Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual Disability Services for anyone struggling to cope with the emotional toll of the crash.

These updates coincide with the release of doorbell camera footage from Northeast Philadelphia, capturing the terrifying moment the medical plane crashed into a busy street. The footage quickly went viral online.

Recorded on January 31, the video shows two people standing outside and talking when a loud noise suddenly grabs their attention. They turn toward the sky just as an aircraft appears, plummeting rapidly before crashing nearby. The explosion briefly flashes white across the screen, followed by a thunderous blast, and the witnesses rush inside for safety.
The chilling footage sparked widespread discussion, with many describing it as surreal and deeply unsettling.

One person shared, “I know it was a plane, but it doesn’t look like it. I’m sure it was the cloud coverage, but the way it appears out of nowhere and spikes into the ground. It seems like it’s moving way faster than a small plane can.”
Someone else sympathized, “I know this had to be very scary! My prayers to all the victims [sic] families of these plane crashes,” while another exclaimed, “Can imagine that being the scariest thing ever!!!”
Many online viewers speculated about the crash, with some believing the plane was already on fire before impact. Others noted that a witness in the footage appeared to react to an unusual sound just before the aircraft went down.

Some described the video as one of the most horrifying they had ever seen, expressing concern for traumatized residents. One user expressed sympathy for the victims, especially after learning that a child was among those on board.

The crash occurred just after 6 p.m. on Friday, less than three miles from the airport. Selkuc Koc, a waiter at a nearby diner, recalled hearing a loud boom and initially thought it was a “thunderstorm.” When he looked outside, he saw thick smoke and flames rising into the air. He compared the scene to a gas station explosion.
The force of the blast was so strong that debris flew into nearby buildings. A diner customer was injured when a heavy metal object crashed through a window, adding to the chaos. Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Adam Thiel said officials were still working to identify everyone who was on the streets when the crash happened, making it hard to confirm the final number of victims.
The NTSB launched an investigation, collecting debris and assessing damage across the four-to-six-block crash site. NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy described it as a “high-impact crash” that left the aircraft “highly fragmented.”
At the time, investigators were still searching for the cockpit voice recorder, which could provide key insights into what happened. Given the force of the impact, officials feared it may be damaged or fragmented but remained hopeful it could be recovered and analyzed.

Meanwhile, Fox News reported that newly obtained air traffic control audio from Northeast Philadelphia Airport captured the tense moments before the crash. In the recording, operators attempted to reach the Learjet 55 but received no response.
“What’s going on down there?” one controller was heard asking. “We have a lost aircraft. We’re not exactly sure what happened. So, we’re trying to figure it out. The field is going to be closed so no inbounds-outbounds,” an air traffic controller said.

In addition to the mother and child reported by AP, Fox News identified the remaining people on board as the pilot, copilot, physician, and paramedic, all of whom were Mexican nationals.
As investigators work to determine the cause, an expert analyzed the footage and possible factors behind the accident.
“The plane was out of the crew’s control. It was not controlled flight into terrain (CFIT). May have been a mechanical malfunction of the stabilizer, elevator, trim or even a load shift rearward within the cabin [sic],” said Retired Philadelphia pilot John Anderson.
Anderson suggested that if the aircraft carried a stretcher and it was not properly secured, it could have rolled backward, shifting the plane’s center of gravity. “This would cause the nose to raise and stall the wing. In that case, the nose will drop with the angle in the video,” he explained.
The former pilot also added, “Because it was right after takeoff and the initial climb, I would say it was likely aswing stall. There could be a number of factors that would cause a stall. Could have been a runaway trim, malfunctioning stabilizer.” Authorities will continue to investigate as they gather more evidence and assess the damage.

The crash occurred less than 48 hours after a deadly collision between an American Airlines flight and an Army helicopter near Reagan National Airport, which killed 67
