In a heart-wrenching case of animal cruelty, a Springer Spaniel named Ger Ger endured an unimaginable ordeal. Her owner cut off her paw and sold it to the dog meat market after she, driven by hunger, bit a goose. This left Ger Ger arriving at Li Liu’s small animal rescue center with a deep mistrust of humans.
Dr. Song, upon hearing of her plight, quickly stepped in to perform emergency surgery. After intense care and a week of dedicated treatment, Ger Ger began to slowly open up and trust the veterinary staff.
During one routine check-up, Dr. Song warmly inquired, “How’s our little Springer Spaniel? Is she doing alright?” He examined Ger Ger gently, striving to ensure she was on the mend.

As her health improved, Ger Ger began to engage playfully with her caretakers and other animals in the shelter. One of the caretakers laughingly noted her newfound joyous demeanor, describing her interactions as “playing with her little brother.”

With her spirit lifted, Dr. Song expressed satisfaction at her recovery. “She’s much better now, the stitches have been removed,” he proudly stated, observing as Ger Ger eagerly received treats from her handlers. When asked about her ability to move, Dr. Song confidently replied, “Yes, she can go out and run like a normal dog.”
The time finally came for Ger Ger to leave the hospital, and Dr. Song announced, “It’s time to go home, Ger Ger.” He reassured her, promising that she would no longer face harm as they set off on the journey back to the rescue center.

At a designated yard for special care, Ger Ger found peace and companionship. Her carers expressed their hope and affection, whispering, “Ger Ger, we hope you can live like a princess in the future.”
After a quarantine period in this small yard, she would move to a larger space with other dogs. Filled with compassion and determination, her caretakers affirmed, “No one will hurt you anymore,” underscoring their dedication to her well-being.
