Abandoned Puppy Found Under Construction Site Finds Her First Warm Bed

Posted on June 22, 2025 by admin

In a quiet corner of Los Angeles County, a resident paused while passing a house under construction. The windows were taped shut, building materials stacked against the wall. It looked like no one had been there for weeks.

But then, something moved beneath the foundation. A tiny face slowly peeked out. Soft, wide eyes filled with fear stared back. A small puppy was hiding there. She was all alone, scared, and completely forgotten.

A Call for Help

Worried for the puppy’s safety, the neighbor contacted Logan’s Legacy 29, a rescue group led by Suzette Hall. Suzette and her rescue partner, Mary Nakiso, didn’t hesitate. Within hours, they arrived at the scene.

What they found was heartbreaking. The puppy was only around 10 weeks old. She was crouched in a shadowy space, trembling from fear and cold. Too young to fend for herself. Too vulnerable to be left outside, exposed to danger.

“She’s just a baby,” Suzette later shared on Facebook. “This isn’t how her story should’ve started.”

Searching for Her Family

Hoping she hadn’t been left completely alone, the rescuers searched for signs of her mother or siblings. But there were none. No paw prints. No barking. Just silence.

A nearby neighbor had noticed her before and had been leaving food and water near the house. Someone had even slid a blanket under the beams to give her something soft to sleep on.

That small act of kindness likely kept her alive until help arrived.

Panic and Disappearance

When Suzette and Mary tried to approach the puppy, she panicked. She dashed out from under the house and disappeared into the backyard. They set humane traps with food to lure her back and waited.

Time passed, but she never returned.

Suzette refused to give up. She began carefully searching the backyard and finally spotted a tiny face hiding under a pile of twisted metal.

“She was just lying there, hidden under twisted scraps,” Hall wrote. “I saw her tiny face peeking out at me.”

With the help of a kind neighbor, they gently lifted each piece of debris until they reached her. She didn’t move. Her body was shaking with fear. But she stayed.

Suzette softly scooped her up, whispering gentle words of comfort. The puppy, who would later be named Savannah, was too exhausted to resist. For the first time, she allowed herself to be held

To keep her safe on the drive, they placed her inside a humane trap lined with soft blankets and brought her to Camino Pet Hospital. Despite her ordeal, Savannah was healthy. No injuries. No illness. Just scared and emotionally worn out.

Soon after, she was placed with a loving foster family through Second Leash On Life. Now, she had a warm bed, real meals, toys to play with, and gentle hands to care for her.

A New Chapter Begins

“She was just a baby doing her best to survive,” Suzette said. “Now, she finally gets to just be a puppy.”

Savannah is still waiting for her forever home. But for now, she is safe. She is loved. And each day, she moves further away from fear and closer to the happy life she always deserved.
