My name is Leo…
I spent many years behind the shelter bars, watching other dogs leave for warm homes while I stayed behind, rolling quietly on my little wheels. I smiled every time someone walked in, hoping they’d choose me, but they always passed by as if I wasn’t there. I never wanted pity — I just wanted someone to believe I was worth a chance.
Today, I was adopted. An old man lifted me in his arms and said softly, “I won’t leave you anymore.” I looked into his eyes and smiled… it felt like our souls met before our hands did. No one congratulated me, no one clapped — but inside, my heart was screaming, “Someone finally sees me.”
Now I’m in my new home. I can’t run like others, but I can love more deeply. My wheels don’t hold me back — they’re my new wings. And tonight, as I rest my head on his knee, he whispers: “You’re not alone anymore, Leo.”
