The Owner Has Left, 5 Skinny Dogs Are Starving Every Day – I’ve Been Crying for Hours

Posted on December 5, 2025 by admin

A heartbreaking rescue mission unfolded in the middle of a wooded area, where six helpless Italian Greyhounds were found clinging to life. Their bodies were frail, their eyes empty, and their spirits nearly broken. What should have been a peaceful shelter had turned into a silent prison—an illegal pet breeding operation run by someone who saw these animals not as living beings, but as disposable merchandise.

When rescuers, accompanied by the civil police, arrived at the scene, they were met with the stench of death and suffering. The area was littered with filthy cages, some still holding dogs who could barely lift their heads. Others had already succumbed to starvation and illness. Bones protruded from every angle on the surviving dogs’ bodies. It was estimated that they had been deprived of food and clean water for nearly 30 days. Thirty days of hunger. Thirty days of silence. Thirty days too long.

The person responsible was reported to be the owner of a pet shop, someone who once profited from selling animals and had now abandoned them when they were no longer deemed “useful” for breeding. Authorities launched an investigation, but for the rescuers, the focus was clear: save whoever could still be saved.

Six of the weakest dogs were immediately transported to a nearby veterinary clinic. Every second counted. Upon arrival, the medical team sprang into action. IV fluids were administered. Wounds were cleaned. Pain relief was given. These animals, who had been treated so cruelly, now experienced the first gentle touch in what might have been their entire lives.

Among the rescued was a severely emaciated Doberman. His condition was especially grave. He was infested with parasites and had a deeply infected wound near his rear that, despite the vet’s best efforts, would likely require the removal of the entire rectal area to prevent further suffering. Yet, even in that state, his eyes still carried a glimmer of trust.

The Italian Greyhounds were no better off. Their bodies were skeletal, their nails so overgrown they curled under their tiny feet, making it painful to walk. Each step they took was a testament to their will to survive. But something remarkable happened in that clinic—hope returned. Slowly but surely, they began to respond to the care and love being offered.

One of the Dobermans, once too weak to eat, began accepting food again. The Greyhounds—named Galak, Galuk, Rafael, and Mabel—began lifting their heads, wagging their tails, and eating on their own. Galak and Galuk, both female, clung to each other for comfort. Rafael, the only male of the group, showed signs of alertness and curiosity. Mabel, with eyes full of both fear and longing, took cautious steps toward her new caretakers.

Their bloodwork revealed severe abnormalities, likely caused by long-term malnutrition and possible infectious diseases. PCR tests were ordered, and the medical team prepared for what would be a long but determined road to recovery.

Through it all, the rescuers never lost hope. They emphasized that while the healing process would be slow, they were committed to saving each dog. Those in better shape, like Rafael and Mabel, were already showing signs that they could be placed in loving homes soon. Ideally, the team hoped they would be adopted together, having survived so much side by side.

The story of these six dogs isn’t just one of survival—it’s a call for compassion. A reminder that neglect leaves scars far deeper than what the eye can see. These animals weren’t just forgotten—they were discarded. But in the hands of rescuers and compassionate caregivers, they are now beginning to rediscover what it means to feel safe, to be fed, to be touched kindly.

To those watching, this is more than just an animal rescue story. It’s a mirror reflecting how easily the voiceless can suffer when no one is looking. But it’s also proof that even the smallest act of kindness—a phone call, a rescue mission, a donation—can save a life. Or in this case, six.

Each of these dogs has a name now. A story. A future. And perhaps, soon, a forever home where they will be cherished not for their breeding potential, but simply for being themselves. Their past was filled with pain, but their future can be written with love, if we choose to act.

If you’ve ever wondered whether your voice, your care, your compassion can make a difference—let these six dogs be your answer. They are still here. Still fighting. Still believing that the world can be kind.

Let their journey inspire more rescues, more adoptions, and more accountability. Because every life matters. And no living soul should ever be thrown away like yesterday’s profit.

Let’s remember: they didn’t give up. And neither should we.
