Time to keep Honey inside at night. Warm n cozy dog bed indoors with the best wet food and treats.
She’s a heroic farm dog but she’s earned her rest.
On the night of March 3, Honey was doing her usual patrol around the farm when a hungry bear, newly out of hibernation, approached. Despite her age and limited vision, she fearlessly stood her ground against the [pr.eda.tor] to defend her home, which included her family, two horses, and over 60 chickens.
No one witnessed the [fi.ght], but the aftermath told the story. Security footage and [tr.ac.ks] showed that Honey had engaged the bear and successfully driven it away. Her owner, Denise Martinez, found her hours later in the driveway, badly [in.ju.red].
Honey’s [w.o.un.ds] were severe. She suffered deep [pu.nct.ures], heavy [br.uis.ing], and a devastating [in.ju.ry] that [tore] the skin from her neck up to her face. At first, it seemed unlikely she would [survive]. However, her family rushed her to an emergency clinic, where she underwent urgent care and surgery.
Despite the odds, Honey pulled through. Miraculously, none of the farm animals were harmed, and her family remained safe.
This wasn’t the first time Honey had overcome hardship. She had [pr.evio.usly] [survived] [pa.rvov.ir.us] and an encounter with a porcupine that left her partially [bl.ind]. Even so, her protective instincts never faded.
Now recovering and receiving ongoing treatment, Honey is being celebrated as a true hero. As her owner shared, she risked everything to protect not just the animals, but her entire family.
Honey’s story is a powerful reminder of loyalty and courage — a senior dog who stood between her loved ones and [da.ng.er], no matter the cost.
