Devastating flash floods tore through northern Nepal on August 26, 2026, after a landslide struck communities along the Trishuli and Bhotekoshi rivers near the Nepal-Tibet border. The death toll has climbed sharply as rescue efforts continue, with more than 900 people confirmed dead in Nepal and over 4,200 people still missing.
Entire villages have been swept away, with bridges warped and twisted by floodwaters and communities left buried in mud and debris. Rescue crews are racing against time to find survivors as officials warn of risk of further flooding.
Families across the region have lost homes, loved ones, and any sense of safety in an instant. The scale of destruction — and the number of lives still hanging in the balance — makes urgent humanitarian aid critical right now.
The Red Cross said roughly 90,000 people have been impacted by the flooding.
Those who fled rising waters had no time to gather belongings, and many are struggling to keep their pets safe. Hundreds of people and pets are displaced and in immediate danger.
That’s why our partner, Greater Good Charities, is working with partners on the ground to fund aid. With your support, people and pets in impacted communities can receive lifesaving aid in the midst of crisis.
