A heartbreaking moment was caught on camera when a dog’s owner abandoned him in a wooded area. The public response has been overwhelming, with many people offering to adopt the dog.
This footage of a dog being taken to Vancouver Park in Portland, Oregon is circulating in the hopes that we can find its owner and bring them to justice.
Alyssa Ott, who lives close by, received a cell phone notification that somebody was on her property for an extended period of time. She then checked her security footage.
The Tesla’s door opened and the dog was let out on a leash. Its owner then led it into the woods Seconds later, the owner ran back to her car and drove off.
Alyssa said, “I thought to myself, ‘This woman is probably leaving her dog here.’ I watched as she unclipped the leash and threw it back into the car.”
After the dog watched the first car leave, he followed another one until that driver also abandoned him. The pup was left feeling sad and confused.
“He just stood there for the next 65 seconds or so,” said Kerilyn Jakubs, who runs dog shelter I Paw’d It Forward. This is horrifying, as per Koin 6 News.
After the dog was abandoned, shelter staff were able to collect him and transport him to their facilities. He is currently being cared for while an investigation is carried out.
Members of staff said they received countless offers to adopt the dog, but won’t give him up until the investigation is finished.
The officers stated that the woman might be charged with animal cruelty.
This just goes to show the importance of properly caring for and considering all options before getting a pet. Abandoning them is never acceptable and people need to be held accountable for their actions.
