Right after boarding, my neighbor Dave asked me to swap seats so he could sit next to his wife Lia. He wanted to move her from economy to premium, but I had paid a good sum for the extra legroom and politely said no—unless he paid for the upgrade. Dave didn’t take it well. Soon after, he started coughing loudly as if to disturb everyone and played a loud movie on his iPad without headphones. When I asked him to lower the volume, he said he forgot them and insisted we all watch.
Then came the messy snacking with crumbs falling on me, followed by Lia sitting on Dave’s lap. Their whispering and noises made the nearby passengers uncomfortable. After an hour, I asked a flight attendant for help. She told them to control their behavior, but they refused, even after being warned. Eventually, the couple was moved back to economy for breaking airline rules.
Just as I settled back in, turbulence hit. Lia suddenly demanded to use the front restroom despite earlier issues. When she and Dave tried to push past me, I reminded the crew about their prior misconduct. The stewardess sternly told them to return to their seats and threatened the air marshal.
