This isn’t just art. It’s love that didn’t end when the dog was gone.

Posted on May 2, 2026 by admin

Anyone who’s lost a dog understands this… you don’t move on, you just learn to carry them differently.

Not the walks.
Not the quiet moments in the studio.
Not the days they spent together on the beach.
For 14 years, Taiwanese artist Liang Renchuan had a companion who never left his side.
A dog named Hachiko.
He wasn’t just a pet.

He appeared in Renchuan’s life on one of the hardest days… the day of his father’s funeral. A stray puppy who somehow found his way into the funeral parlor that night.
And from that moment on… he stayed.
They built a life together.

Every trip to the beach meant collecting driftwood for art. Renchuan carried the heavy pieces… while Hachiko ran freely, playing in the sand, always nearby.
Back in the studio, Hachiko would sit and watch him work. Quiet. Loyal. Always there.
Then one day… he wasn’t.

After a long life, Hachiko passed away in the very place he loved most.
The silence that followed was unbearable.
So Renchuan did the only thing he knew how to do.
He started building him again.

Using the same driftwood they had collected side by side for years… piece by piece… he created a life-sized sculpture of Hachiko.
Every curve. Every detail.
And when it was finished, he placed Hachiko’s collar around it.

Not as art.
As memory.
Now, the dog who once followed him everywhere… still stands in that studio.
And every time Renchuan walks back onto the beach…
He doesn’t feel alone anymor.

This is the most beautiful💜… it’s a dedication to his beloved dog and best friend, a tribute to the one true soul that filled his heart with love and is now honoring him with this beautiful piece of art in a unique way❤️

We dog folks feel the [lo.ss] and appreciate the love in this project.
That is so special 🥹❤️🐾
