That dog would give it’s life for him.
He feels the same about the dog.
Dogs aren’t just cute fluffy critters. They are pure heart and soul and angels!
In Deer Park, Texas, Officer Joel Nitchman and his [na.rc.oti.cs] K-9 Roni had just returned to the station from training when the weather suddenly turned violent. Wind picked up fast. Rain slammed down. [De.br.is] started flying. Visibility dropped to almost nothing.
Roni was still in his kennel inside the patrol vehicle.
And Officer Nitchman could not leave him there.
He later said the thought of [de.br.is] hitting the car, or the vehicle [fl.ippi.ng] over, was too much. Roni was not just equipment. He was not just a working dog. He had been Nitchman’s partner since 2018.
So he ran outside.
Surveillance video showed him pushing through lightning, heavy rain, powerful wind, and flying [de.br.is] to reach the squad car. He said things were hitting his face, and by the time he got around the vehicle, “all heck [br.ok.e] loose.”
Then came the next problem.
Roni did not want to come out.
The dog saw what was happening outside and [fr.oze]. And honestly, who could blame him? Even trained dogs can feel [fe.ar] when the world suddenly turns into noise, wind, and flying [da.ng.er].
But Nitchman stayed with him.
He coaxed him out of the car, got him moving, and together they fought their way back toward the station. Even the front door was nearly [bl.ock.ed] by a fence that had been [thr.own] by the [st.orm].
They made it inside.
Both survived.
What makes this story powerful is not only the rescue.
It is what Officer Nitchman said afterward.
“I love that dog. He’s my hip attachment almost every day of the week. He’s a part of our family. We can’t leave a loved one like that.”
That is the part every dog lover understands.
When [da.ng.er] comes, love does not calculate.

K-9 units are bonded with their officer, so it’s natural that they are the best of friends who would do anything for each other
